maxit industrial pumped screeds were specified for an expansion of News International's print centres.
The floors were installed at a 13,000sq.m. extension to the print centre at Knowsley.
The maxit Duro System, comprising Floor 4600 DuroBase and 4610 DuroTop, was specified for areas of traffic and mechanised equipment. The DuroSystem consists of the DuroBase screed with hardwearing self-levelling DuroTop that can be left as self-finish, painted or coated. Both screeds cure in two to four hours and the DuroTop supports forklift truck traffic after 24 hours.
For the aisles alongside the presses, flooring specialist No Flaw of Sunderland pumped the DuroBase to thicknesses of up to 80mm, followed by a 7mm self-finishing topping of DuroTop.
In the pre-press preparation area, the DuroBase was laid to 43mm with a 7mm finishing screed of DuroTop. DuroBase was used as infill around the machine beds of the press bases up to a depth of 300mm.
