Horticulture & Drainage
maxit LWA is an ideal porous plant substrate with a natural earthy colour, which can be used for various horticultural applications.
When used in soil mixes, maxit LWA will not compress, degrade, decompose, or react with agricultural or horticultural chemicals. It retains a high percentage of its weight in water and waterborne nutrients, making it an excellent buffer.
Principle Benefits

Drainage
As well as insulating properties maxit LWA possesses excellent drainage characteristics and has a good hydraulic permeability factor, (approx.10-2m/s) depending on the grading. maxit LWA is used in many drainage applications, which include:
Sports fields and golf courses |
Agricultural fields |
Embankments and slopes |
Filter drains in highways |
Drainage blankets on landfill sites |
Indoor or outdoor planting |
maxit LWA is used around foundation walls, drainage ditches, drainage blankets and band drains (vertical and horizontal). maxit LWA helps filter and increase microbiological breakdown of pollutant runoff from fields and highways.
The low unit weight of maxit LWA fillings is increased when the material absorbs water. When maxit LWA is used as a drainage medium it will absorb a small amount of water, therefore reducing the hydraulic loading when used in conjunction with conventional drains.
